What is discussed in our workshops and why are we doing this? All workshops include the most up-to-date evidenced based information, are interactive, and offer practical tips for managing the conditions that limit your activities. The Body Balance Team strives to elevate the health care standard in the Lakeway and Austin area. We are passionate about educating our community to be better informed on optimizing their health, maintaining functional independence, and providing options for conservative management.

Wednesday, January 20 @ 11:00am Fall Prevention and Balance Workshop with Dr. Zoe Crawford PT Falling and fear of falling can be a very serious and common occurrence as we get older. It can become a barrier to your confidence and may keep you from everyday things that you enjoy. In this workshop, we will go over the systems our body uses to maintain balance and how they impact your balance and safety. We’ll show you exercises you can do at home to improve your balance and ways that you can safeguard your home from fall risks. You will also learn strategies for preventing falls in difficult situations such as stairs, uneven surfaces and other settings. Wednesday, January 27th @ 11 am Knee Osteoarthritis with Dr. Cassie Chonko PT, OCS This workshop will teach you about knee osteoarthritis, treatment options, and how to continue staying active with this diagnosis. Taught by the doctors of physical therapy from Body Balance. Wednesday , February 10th @ 11:00am Shoulder Pain with Dr. Nathan Everett PT, CSCS Our shoulder complex is made of multiple muscles, bones, and other soft tissues that must work in a coordinated effort to be able to lift up our arms. One muscle not pulling its weight can lead to discomfort and pain. Wednesday, March 24th @ 11am Golf & Low Back Pain with Dr. Nathan Everett PT, CSCS Golf is a fun and exciting sport that is unfortunately very tough on our body. The golf swing is a very dynamic activity that puts a lot of stress on our joints and muscles and commonly leads to injury. Golfers, no matter the skill level, can suffer from low back pain, keeping them from them their game. This workshop, led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy and former golf professional, will give an overview of reasons for low back pain while playing golf and give you tips and strategies on how to prevent those injuries. Thursday, April 1st @ 11:00 am Movements and Exercises to Maintain Independence with Dr. Nathan Everett PT, CSCS Strength is more thought of in a way of how much weight that we can move at one time. However, strength is much more important when it comes to maintaining independence and ability to perform normal activities in our home. Strength is also a core component to balance.
