At any point in your life, your primary goal may be to restore health and function. This can be from an injury, an illness, a prolonged period of inactivity and deconditioning, or any number of other reasons.
Our team of Manual Therapists have each previously owned and operated their own private practices and have come together with vast experience and a mutual goal of re-creating how our health care system cares for each individual.
The following is a list and explanation of the types of therapy we provide:
PHYSICAL THERAPY: The APTA defines Physical Therapy as the examination, treatment, and instruction of persons in order to detect, assess, prevent, correct, alleviate, and limit physical disability and bodily malfunction. The practice of physical therapy includes the administration, interpretation, and evaluation of tests and measurements of bodily functions and structures and the planning, administration, evaluation, and modification of treatment and instruction, including the use of physical measures, activities, and devices, for preventive and therapeutic purposes. Additionally, it provides consultative, educational, and other advisory services for the purpose of reducing the incidence and severity of physical disability, bodily malfunction, movement dysfunction, and pain.
It is important to know that Physical Therapy includes preventive applications. This is a defining difference in our philosophy and practice. We believe there is a need for physical therapy in every person's life at some point that is independent of injury.
RETURN TO GOLF: ...when injury, physical dysfunction or limitation, and/or pain has come between you and playing golf. This therapy will consist of a PT evaluation with special assessment of those factors that directly impact your ability to play golf. Those would include spinal mobility, shoulder strength and motion, posture, balance…as well as several other factors that are necessary to play golf while reducing risk of injury and improving efficiency. A full assessment of the physical requirements will create a treatment plan specially designed to assist in your return to playing golf…safely and productively.
BALANCE TRAINING and FALL PREVENTION: Research consistently confirms that one in every three adults age 65 and older falls. These falls can cause moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures and head trauma, and can increase the risk of early death. Most falls are also preventable.
As we age, it is common for our balance to slowly decline. For some, the first indication is often a fall.
Body Balance has group classes as well as one-on one therapy designed specifically for those people who represent a fall risk. But not everyone is aware that they present with a risk of falling. If you are unsure of your potential risk, we also have an evaluation that will assess your specific, individual fall risk. Typically, this is covered under your Physical Therapy insurance benefits. If you think your balance has begun to decline, a little prevention now may be a lifesaver in your future.
